Walchensee, with 16 km² and a maximum depth of 189.5 m, is one of the deepest and clearest pre-Alpine lakes in Germany. The pressure-pipeline connection to the Walchensee power station (one of the oldest high-pressure power stations in Germany) creates a special inspection requirement.
